The following handouts were used in a February 2019 presentation by Dr. George Weyer from the University of Chicago. The presentation was sponsored by SHARE.

(1) "Opioid Use Disorder Resources." A comprehensive list of local resources. Includes telephone hotlines, naloxone providers, support groups, needle exchange programs, drug disposal sites, treatment centers, and resources for families, friends, and caregivers.

(2) "Prescription Opioids: What You Need to Know." Describes the risks and side effects of prescription opioids.

(3) "Preventing an Opioid Overdose." Basics on opioid overdoses, including common signs and symptoms as well as how you can help someone who has overdosed.

(4) "What to Do with Unused Medication." Information on the Medsafe Bin at the University of Chicago. If unused medication is not disposed properly, it may end up contaminating our drinking water or fueling the opioid epidemic.
