It was Hyde Park (as it was defined then) that brought Wright to Chicago to pursue his passion for architecture. It introduced him to his first wife and gave him clients who believed in him (and one who didn’t) as he built the MacArthur, Blossom, and Harlow Houses, the Abraham Lincoln Center, Heller and Robie Houses, and the Midway Gardens. Hyde Park was where he embarked on his greatest love and learned of his greatest tragedy.
OUR SPEAKER
Patricia (Trish) Morse is a Hyde Park blogger, historian and storyteller who is fascinated by the transformations in her neighborhood—Hyde Park, Chicago. She is known to many as Hyde Park Trish. Trish Morse has a PhD from the University of Chicago. After teaching American Studies and Literature at Union College, St Lawrence University, and Michigan State University, she returned to Hyde Park, where she has served on the executive council of Hyde Park-Kenwood Community Conference, the Hyde Park Garden Fair, and the Hyde Park Used Book Sale. Trish authors a monthly history column in the Hyde Park Herald.
