Augustana Acoustics Project
Augustana Lutheran Church is moving ahead with a project to improve the acoustics in Gorder Hall where CHPV hosts its monthly Lunch Gathering and other activities. Improving the acoustics in this space has been high on our — and likely your — wishlist for many years. We are excited to see movement on this initiative. Read this letter from CHPV Member Dottie Jeffries and Augustana Lutheran Church Council Member Dan Friedrich to learn more about the Augustana Acoustics Project.
CHPV is pleased to contribute $500 to this project and we encourage you to consider offering your support as well. You can donate online securely through this portal or mail a check to Augustana Lutheran Church at 5500 S. Woodlawn Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.

A reading of A Cruise to Remember written, produced, and directed by CHPV member Beverly Bennett
A Cruise to Remember is about 2 people who meet on a cruise ship and attempt to learn more about each other in developing a friendship. The reading will be performed by Tom and Jan Christianson during lunch and last approximately 10 minutes.

A Self-Rating Tool with Facts and Suggestions for Safe Driving | | | Access to transportation is a major concern for older adults. Transportation requests are CHPV’s most frequently used service. Any CHPV member can request a free ride to any CHPV event. Full and Access members can request rides to personal appointments. Understandably, though, many of us choose to continue driving in our older years. Age should never be the sole factor of our ability to drive, but it is a normal part of aging for some of the skills necessary for safe driving to deteriorate — vision, reflexes, flexibility, and hearing. How can you know if you or someone you love can still safely drive on their own. AAA has published Drivers 65 Plus, a self-evaluation tool featuring a 15-question self-rating driving assessment exercise designed to help you examine your driving performance. Access to transportation is the number one concern for older adults nationwide, and rides are CHPV’s most frequently requested service. To keep this vital resource available to our members, we need more volunteer drivers! Learn more or contact us to volunteer.

- What you’ll do: Drive members to medical appointments, grocery stores, or CHPV social events.
- What you need: Your own vehicle, auto insurance, an up-to-date driver's license, and a willingness to offer a supportive arm or open a door. (Plus, volunteer mileage may be IRS tax-deductible!)
- The impact: You keep our community connected and independent.

National Census of Villages
Last year CHPV and hundreds of Villages across the country participated in the 2025 National Census of Villages.

Rainbow Network LGBTQSGL Peer Group Space
This is a peer-run space for LGBTQSGL Villagers. Meetings take place bi-monthly via Zoom and are facilitated by the Village to Village Rainbow Network Workgroup. If you are a LGBTQ+ Villager and want to connect with folks from other Villages, you should join us.
