Artificial Intelligence Provocations with Dan Friedrich

Insights and predictions about Artificial Intelligence based on a career consulting on information technologies for NASA, Fermilab, and many other complex enterprises. Dan Friedrich is CEO/CTO of Friedrich, Klatt and Associates and a Second City-trained improv and sketch comedy writer, director, and performer. He hopes this presentation will provoke a robust conversation. No prior knowledge about AI is necessary or expected.

A Roast to Augustana's Pastor Nancy Goede and Jim Vondracek

Sunday, August 23, approximately 10:45 after the 9:30 service
 
Pastor Nancy Goede and her husband and church administrator Jim Vondracek are retiring from Augustana Lutheran Church of Hyde Park at the end of the summer and moving to Pennsylvania. Their last day is Sunday, August 23. Following the 9:30am service that day, the Augustana congregation will host a farewell reception for Pastor Nancy and Jim in Gorder Hall and are pleased to extend the invitation to the CHPV community. The reception will start about 10:45am. Refreshments will be served. Augustana Church Council member Dan Friedrich is organizing a "Roast" of Nancy and Jim to take place during the reception. On the anniversary of the bombing of Nagasaki in 1945, join members of our community for screenings and discussions of Bombshell and Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes presented with the cooperation of Nuclear Energy Information Service, the Chicago affiliate of the International Uranium Film Festival.
 
Community neighbors encourage you to join a gathering of non-proliferation activists and others for an Annual Remembrance of the Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6, 2026 between 5 and 6 pm at the Henry Moore sculpture - Ellis Avenue between 56th and 57th Street at that site of the first successful sustained nuclear fission experiment that ushered in the nuclear age.
