Exploring the Obama Presidential Center with Trish Morse

Wednesday, September 9, 12–1pm Central via Zoom
 
 
Join Trish Morse for a virtual walk around the Obama Presidential Center's 20 acre campus and its 28 art installations as well as a glance inside the museum itself.

Patricia (Trish) Morse is a Hyde Park blogger, historian and storyteller who is fascinated by the transformations in her neighborhood—Hyde Park, Chicago. She is known to many as Hyde Park Trish. Trish Morse has a PhD from the University of Chicago. After teaching American Studies and Literature at Union College, St Lawrence University, and Michigan State University, she returned to Hyde Park, where she has served on the executive council of Hyde Park-Kenwood Community Conference, the Hyde Park Garden Fair, and the Hyde Park Used Book Sale. Trish authors a monthly history column in the Hyde Park Herald.

Chicago Hyde Park Village's free Zoom Drop-In series is held every 2nd Wednesday of the month. All are welcome! Invite a friend!

On September 12, Deb’s Law, or the medical aid in dying (MAID) bill, will go into effect in Illinois. Watch the recording from last week's Chicago Area Villages Collaborative presentation to learn more about Deb’s Law – what it means, who qualifies, and why it matters. Speakers for this session will include Majority Leader Robyn Gabel, State Representative for the 18th District, and Khadine Bennett, Director of Advocacy and Intergovernmental Affairs or ACLU of Illinois.

CHPV is pleased to host UofC students (a.k.a digital natives) for the annual University of Chicago Student Service Day. Learn from them and share your perspectives as a digital adopter.

And who knows ... if they enjoy the experience, some of these students might choose to become CHPV volunteers for their remaining years at UofC!
